Our entrance is directly on the N2, yet tangible tranquility is what you experience the minute you enter. We are surrounded by lush vegetation and fynbos with prolific bird life. The indigenous forests and protected lake areas, lends itself to excellent bird watching. The Malachite Kingfisher Hide and the Ronde Vlei Bird Hide are very close to Chara Lodge and provides a peaceful location from which to view a multitude of bird life. There is abundant bird life with continuous flocks of cormorants, ducks and egrets flying overhead. Listen to the calls of the Fish Eagles, Nightjars, the song of the Southern Boubou and more. (Over 200 bird species can be seen in the area)

 

The nearest airport is George Airport, located 23km outside of Wilderness.  Several car rental agencies are based at the George airport to hire a vehicle or you could order a rental online.  We will fetch and collect guests at the airport at a fee.
